Long delays expected as Vermont State Police close section of Interstate 89

Update: One lane of Interstate 89 Northbound has reopened as of 10:10 a.m. Crews are still working to clear the crash scene.Original story follows:Vermont State Police have closed a section of Interstate 89 in Bolton due to a commercial motor vehicle crash. The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. in the area near the Route 2 overpass. According to the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles, a Pepsi truck had been traveling northbound when it left the roadway, then struck a guardrail and the bridge barrier. The truck stopped in the road, but the attached trailer extended over the side of the bridge. The driver was not injured in the crash.The northbound side was closed to all traffic between exits 10 and 11 around 5:30 a.m. Stage Road in Richmond was also closed. A detour is in place from Exit 10 northbound to Route 2 westbound, which will lead drivers all the way up to Richmond and back on I-89 northbound at Exit 11. Traffic ImpactDelays are expected to last several hours as crews clear the area and inspect the bridge. As of 8:30 a.m., backups and slow travel could be seen getting off of I-89 toward Route 2.
