Logan Co. man arrested for DUI after deadly crash
LINCOLN, Ill. (WCIA) -- A Logan County man was arrested on a DUI charge after a deadly crash Thursday evening, police said. In a news release, the Lincoln Police Department said officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of North Logan and Peoria Streets just after 9:30 p.m. on May 21. Police said a Lincoln MKX, driven by 38-year-old Shaun M. Cook, had severe front-end damage. A Chrysler minivan had severe rear-end damage. A passenger in the minivan, identified as 66-year-old Christine Shaub, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. A preliminary investigation revealed that the MKX collided with the minivan, police added. Cook was brought to the hospital, medically released, and then placed under arrest. Police said he was booked on the charge of aggravated driving under the influence. Two other people were in the minivan; police said they refused treatment at the scene.
