
Lanes clear following collision between 4 vehicles on I-440 west in Wake County
Two out of the three lanes on a stretch of Interstate 440 west in Wake County have been reopened following a four-vehicle collision on Friday evening, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on I-440 west close to Lake Boone Trail and Raleigh at mile marker 5. The collision resulted in the closure of the two right lanes after exit 5 leading to Lake Boone Trail. The lanes were accessible to traffic once again by 8 p.m. The Raleigh Police Department reported that the collision was initiated when an 18-wheeler collided with an EMS truck from behind, which then caused two other vehicles to be involved. One of the EMS workers sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, while no other individuals in the collision were harmed as per Raleigh police. Police mentioned that as of Friday night, no charges had been pressed relating to the incident.
