KSP: Firefighters airlifted following fire truck crash in Marion County

UPDATE: The KSP has provided more information regarding a recent crash involving a Raywick Fire Department tanker truck and has identified the two firefighters who were hurt in the incident. The KSP reported that Brian Hatt, 51, and Leonard Winkler, 58, were the firefighters injured in the crash. According to the preliminary investigation, Hatt was driving the truck north on KY 537 with emergency equipment on to assist the Loretto Fire Department when the truck veered off the right side of the road, causing the edge to collapse. Hatt then lost control of the vehicle, crossed the road, hit an embankment, and overturned. Hatt was thrown from the truck, sustaining life-threatening injuries, while Winkler was trapped and flown to the University of Kentucky Hospital with "serious" injuries. Hatt was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital.
