Kokomo woman killed, juvenile and adult injured in Howard County crash involving semi, 2 cars
HOWARD COUNTY, Ind. — A Kokomo woman is dead and two other people, including a juvenile, are in the hospital after a serious car crash in Howard County. Indiana State Police were called just before 10 p.m. Tuesday to an area of State Road 22 near County Road 2350 East for a wreck involving multiple cars. Upon arrival, troopers found several people injured at the scene of a crash involving a semi and two passenger vehicles. Brittani N. Duncan, a 35-year-old from Kokomo, was seriously injured in the crash while driving a 2013 Chevrolet Captiva. She was unfortunately pronounced deceased on scene, dying from injuries sustained in the collision. Preliminary information from ISP investigators shows that Duncan was driving westbound on State Road 22 with a juvenile passenger inside her Chevy. For an unknown reason, her car reportedly crossed over the center line onto the other side of the roadway. While on the wrong side of State Road 22, Duncan's car reportedly struck a 2021 Freightliner semi being driven by a man from Missouri. After the initial collision with the semi, the Chevy then reportedly collided with a 2021 Buick Enclave being driven by a Kokomo woman. The juvenile passenger inside Duncan's car was flown to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to ISP. The woman driving the Buick was taken by ambulance to a hospital, also suffering non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi was uninjured. ISP said their investigation into the crash is active and ongoing, although troopers do not believe that drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision. No other information was immediately provided.
