According to Andrii Dmyterko’s criminal complaint, the driver was distracted by a phone call when he ran a red light, leading to the collision. Since the incident, investigators have secured the black box from the semitruck involved to determine its speed at the time of the crash. Dmyterko, who was in the U.S. on a work visa, is now in custody facing a $100,000 bond and an immigration hold.
