In Hawkins County, Tennessee, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has concluded that the fatal plane crash involving renowned dirt track racer Scott Bloomquist was a deliberate act of suicide. The incident occurred on Aug. 16, 2024, when Bloomquist flew a single-engine Piper J3 into a barn near Mooresburg at approximately 7:50 a.m. The NTSB investigation identified Bloomquist's intentional decision to fly the aircraft into a building as the primary factor leading to the crash.
