
Injuries in Sandusky County school bus accident
Updated at 11:25 p.m. SCOTT TWP. — A school bus transporting students from a Northwood Local Schools junior high football game was involved in a traffic accident in Sandusky County on Thursday evening. According to a statement from the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Fremont post, a total of ten individuals were taken to hospitals for injuries sustained in the crash. The incident occurred when the bus, driven by a 67-year-old Northwood man, failed to yield at a red light while traveling northbound on County Road 32 before being struck by a Jeep Compass SUV on County Road 41. Among the 26 occupants on the bus, six students and the driver suffered minor injuries and were sent to a Fremont hospital, while another student was taken to an Oregon hospital. The SUV's driver, a 46-year-old woman from Fostoria, also suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital in Wood County. One student with non-life-threatening injuries was airlifted to a hospital in Toledo. Sandusky County sheriff's deputies provided assistance at the scene, and the cause of the crash is being investigated with no citations issued yet. Northwood Schools addressed the incident on social media, thanking the coaches, EMS personnel, fire departments, and Highway Patrol, as well as parents for their support.
