Illinois State Trooper hurt in DUI collision on I-57 rushing to previous crash
An Illinois State Police trooper was injured when a driver crashed into their patrol car while the trooper was assisting at another accident on Interstate 57 near south suburban Posen. The incident occurred early Saturday morning when the trooper's parked vehicle was struck by a Mercedes-Benz C300 sedan driven by 33-year-old Brian Blackwell Jr of Chicago. Blackwell has been cited for DUI and violating Scott's Law by not moving over for emergency vehicles with their lights on. Both Blackwell and the trooper were transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
