Singh was found to have entered the US unlawfully by crossing the Mexico border in 2018 before obtaining a Commercial Driver's License in California. The accident occurred due to Singh's reckless driving behavior, which included attempting a U-turn in an unauthorized area. The Florida Dept. of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) confirmed that the three occupants of the mini-van lost their lives as a result of Singh's actions. In response to the incident, social media has expressed outrage over the fact that Singh was an illegal immigrant and was able to attain a commercial driver's license. The Florida Highway Patrol, led by executive director Dave Krener, declared their commitment to holding individuals accountable for endangering others, with Singh currently facing vehicular homicide charges as well as immigration violations.
