Identifying victim in fatal crash near Fithian
Update at 5 p.m. DANVILLE, Ill. - Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden has identified the victim of a fatal single-vehicle rollover crash on U.S. Route 150 as William A. Utley, a 53-year-old man from Urbana. His family has been informed, and an autopsy is planned. The cause and circumstances of the accident are being looked into by the Coroner's Office and Illinois State Police. In another announcement at 1:30 p.m., State Police confirmed the reopening of U.S. Route 150 near Fithian. Earlier reports at 12:54 p.m. indicated one fatality in the incident, which occurred around 11:30 a.m. involving a single vehicle in Vermilion County near County Road 200N close to Fithian. Route 150 remains closed. Prospective commuters are advised of the road closure due to the crash at the Champaign-Vermilion County Line. Master Sergeant Tom Lillard informed that the ongoing investigation may lead to an extensive road closure. Traffic is being redirected eastbound on Illinois Route 49 at Ogden and westbound on the west side of Fithian. Updates will follow on the reopening of the roadway but no specifics or details, such as the number of vehicles involved or injuries sustained, have been provided at this stage.
