Identification of Homer woman as victim in deadly Highway 518 crash
Louisiana State Police are currently looking into a fatal accident on U.S. Highway 79 near Louisiana Highway 518 that tragically took the life of a 55-year-old woman from Homer named Cecilia Marston. The incident occurred on May 6, 2025, around 7:50 p.m. when Marston's 2017 Nissan Versa collided with a 2015 Freightliner Cascadia. Despite being correctly restrained, Marston sustained severe injuries and was later pronounced dead at a hospital. The other driver involved in the crash, who was also properly restrained, did not suffer any injuries. While investigators do not suspect impairment in Marston's case, they have collected toxicology samples for further analysis as part of their ongoing investigation.
