Identification of driver killed in accident near East Platte Avenue
In Colorado Springs, the driver who tragically lost his life in a collision on May 14 has been identified as Brent Nicklas, aged 49, according to the El Paso County Coroner's Office. The incident occurred near East Boulder Street and North Academy Boulevard and involved two vehicles. The CSPD reported that one of the vehicles was driving south on N. Academy Blvd. in the left lane, while the other was heading east on Boulder and making a left turn to travel north on Academy. Sadly, Nicklas succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital. The CSPD's Major Crash Team is leading the investigation into this 13th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2025, a decrease from this time last year when there were 19 fatalities.
