
Identification of 8 individuals who perished in Lake Tahoe boat overturn; included DoorDash executive
The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office announced on Tuesday the names of the eight individuals who tragically lost their lives when a boat overturned in Lake Tahoe during stormy weather. The incident occurred near D.L. Bliss State Park when thunderstorms and strong winds disrupted the previously warm and sunny conditions, leading to the capsizing of the boat carrying ten people. Initially, six individuals perished in the accident, but two more bodies were discovered later. Below are the names of the deceased: - Paula Bozinovich, 71, from Redwood City - Terry Pickles, 73, from Redwood City - Joshua Antony Pickles, 37, from San Francisco - Peter Bayes, 72, from Lincoln - Timothy O’Leary, 71, from Auburn - Theresa Giullari, 66, from Honeoye, NY - James Guck, 69, from Honeoye, NY - Stephen Lindsay, 63, from Springwater, NY Joshua Pickles' widow, Jordan Sugar-Carlsgaard, expressed deep sadness over the loss of her husband, in addition to his parents and Uncle Peter Bayes, as well as other friends who were on board during the tragic event. According to a family spokesperson, severe weather conditions caused the boat to take on water and capsize, leading to the occupants being thrown into the lake. Joshua Pickles was also a respected executive at DoorDash, where he will be greatly missed. The company stated that they are providing support to Pickles' family during this challenging time. The victims were described as close family friends, and among them, Stephen Lindsay was known for his outdoor pursuits and friendly personality. He was traveling with Theresa Giullari and James "Jim" Guck, a couple from Honeoye, NY. Two survivors of the incident remain hospitalized and have not been identified. At the time of the accident, worsening weather conditions, including rain and strong winds, were observed in the area, affecting multiple boats on the lake.
