I-5 closes after big rig crash causes hazmat situation

(FOX40.COM) — Interstate 5 is closed in Stanislaus County after a big rig crashed on the highway north of Sperry Avenue. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, which officials described as a "hazmat" or hazardous material situation. The big rig overturned in a solo vehicle crash. According to the highway patrol, the crash caused major injuries. I-5 was initially closed in both directions, officials said, but the southbound lane reopened several hours later. They did not provide a time the highway would reopen and encouraged drivers to seek alternate routes.
