I-24E blocked in South Nashville following crash involving tanker truck
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Drivers in South Nashville experienced delays Tuesday morning due to a crash involving a tanker truck along I-24. According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation's Smartway Map, the crash was reported just before 10 a.m. at mile marker 56.8 near Haywood Lane. Officials said a passenger vehicle and tanker truck collided, which led to the closure of all eastbound lanes. However, a TDOT spokesperson said traffic continued to move in the right shoulder after the crash. TDOT Smartway cameras showed traffic was backed up for several miles. At approximately 11:45 a.m., the eastbound lanes fully reopened. No additional details about the crash were immediately released.
