Honoring Miami Beach Police Officer David Cajuso after tragic motorcycle crash on I-75.

On Wednesday afternoon, there were moving and remarkable moments as the body of a Miami Beach police officer who had tragically passed away was transported to a funeral home in Miami Lakes. The late officer, 33-year-old David Cajuso, was carried from the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's Office in Miami through city streets and north on Interstate 95 to the Vista Funeral Home at 5755 N.W. 142nd St. Outside the Medical Examiner's Office, Cajuso's spouse was seen crying and praying over his body as it was loaded into an ambulance, with fellow officers standing in salute. A large group of officers also gathered for a respectful tribute before Cajuso's body was driven north in the procession, eventually arriving at the funeral home. Described as a decorated hero with a decade of service on the police force and a father to three young children, Cajuso tragically lost his life in a motorcycle crash near Interstate 75 and the Gratigny Parkway in Hialeah Gardens. As details of the crash investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol are ongoing, the family has requested privacy at this time with no specific funeral arrangements confirmed yet. Cajuso's significant impact as a school resource officer at Mater Beach Academy Charter School was highlighted in a heartfelt tribute from the school community. Likewise, his former high school, Archbishop McCarthy High School, expressed their sorrow at his passing and acknowledged his commendable service to the Miami Beach area. The Miami Beach City Commission canceled its scheduled meeting, expressing its deepest sympathies to Officer Cajuso's family, friends, and colleagues during this challenging period.
