Honoring 4 Pepperdine Students in Memorial Fundraiser

Later today, a fundraising memorial event will be held at the Pacific Coast Highway Ghost Tire Memorial to commemorate the second anniversary of the tragic deaths of four Pepperdine University students. Niamh Rolston, Peyton Stewart, Asha Weir, and Deslyn Williams, all seniors at the university, lost their lives in a collision on PCH. The event, occurring on Friday from 4 to 5 p.m. at PCH and Webb Way, aims to raise funds for the installation of memorial benches at Point Dume to honor the four women. This project, originally initiated by Vinita Weir in memory of her daughter Asha, has now expanded to honor all the victims. Point Dume was chosen as the memorial site due to its significance to Asha Weir, who penned a poem called "For a Moment of Peace" inspired by the location. The memorial benches will include plaques with QR codes linking to a digital tribute honoring the four women, featuring Weir's poem. The remembrance ceremony will feature various tributes including a moment of silence, the release of four white doves, a musical homage to the victims, and an opportunity for attendees to share memories or reflections. Additionally, the event will highlight the need for safer roads, emphasizing the perilous nature of PCH.
