Highway Patrol: 1 person killed in wrong-way Beaufort County crash
One person is dead following a wrong-way crash in Beaufort County.The crash late Wednesday night killed one person and injured another on S.C. 170 in Beaufort County, authorities said.The collision happened about 11:15 p.m. near Oldfield Way, according to Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.A 2019 Infiniti QX50 was traveling the wrong direction on the eastbound side of S.C. 170 when it struck an eastbound 2009 Toyota sedan head-on, Ridgeway said. The driver of the Toyota died at the scene. The driver of the Infiniti was injured and taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, he said.The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the person who died.
