Highway 30 back in operation after multiple-vehicle crash in Tama County

An incident in Tama County, Iowa involving a dump truck and utility van led to a temporary closure of Highway 30. The Tama County Sheriff's Office reported that the accident happened around 2:35 p.m. at the intersection of C Avenue/T47 South and Highway 30. It involved a fully loaded dump truck with a pup trailer being rear-ended by a utility cargo van as the dump truck was turning onto Highway 30 heading west. The utility van sustained significant damage, and its driver was airlifted from the scene due to serious injuries. No injuries were reported in a secondary crash that occurred nearby due to traffic congestion. The westbound lanes of Highway 30 were closed from 2:35 p.m. to 6 p.m. to allow crews to clear the roadway. The TCSO mentioned that the Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash.
