Gulf County collision leads to fatality

GULF COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) - A collision in Gulf County led to a fatality reported at 12:35 p.m. on Tuesday. According to a news release, the traffic crash occurred at the intersection of State Road 71 and County Road 386. It involved a 36-year-old male from Cairo, Georgia and a 22-year-old male from Crawfordville, Florida, as well as a 69-year-old female from Wewahitchka, Florida. The preliminary investigation shows the female, driving a pickup truck, was traveling northbound on State Road 71 as the two males were on a bucket line truck performing work along the east shoulder. The pickup truck collided with the front of the bucket truck after exiting the roadway and continuing northbound along the east shoulder of State Road 71. The two male workers were secured in the extended boom of the bucket truck at the time of the collision. The crash caused them to be thrown out of the truck. All three involved parties were transported to area hospitals with varying severity of injuries. The female's injuries were reported as fatal. The 36-year-old male suffered minor injuries while the 22-year-old was reported with serious injuries.
