
Greensboro woman dies after car drives off Interstate 40 ramp, hits tree, officials say
A woman is dead after a single-vehicle crash on a ramp, according to officials with the Greensboro Police Department.On Tuesday, around 12:15 a.m., officials responded to the on-ramp of Interstate 40 eastbound from West Wendover Avenue after reports of a crash involving a vehicle. Officials said Erica Caviness, 38, was driving a silver Nissan when her vehicle ran off the road.The vehicle went down an embankment and hit a tree.Officials said Caviness was taken to a local hospital, but she died from her injuries.The passenger in the Nissan also sustained non-life-threatening injuries.The GPD’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating.Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.
