Four dead after major head-on crash on US 181, state troopers investigating
KENEDY, Texas - A four-vehicle crash on U.S. 181 in Karnes County left four people dead Thursday morning, According to preliminary information from the Texas Department of Public Safety, DPS said the crash happened at about 8 a.m. on 6/25/26 at U.S. 181 and Hobson Road. Investigators said a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling north on 181 lost control, veered into the oncoming lane, and collided with a 2015 black Tahoe traveling south. The driver and sole occupant of the Tahoe, April Marie Green, 40, of Poth, was pronounced dead at the scene, DPS said. DPS identified the Jeep’s driver as Fernando Espinoza, 23, of San Antonio, and the front passenger as Abigail Lynn Espinoza, 25, of San Antonio. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. DPS said the rear passenger of the Jeep was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center, where she later died. She was identified as Eleora Marie Espinoza, 18, of San Antonio. The crash remains under investigation, DPS said. A copy of the crash report can be obtained through the TxDOT Crash Report Purchase Portal.
