Five people hospitalized in multi-vehicle crash on Redwood Road in Taylorsville

Five people were hospitalized following a crash involving multiple vehicles on Redwood Road in Taylorsville. Sgt. Keller with the Taylorsville Police Department said the crash happened just after 10 p.m. on Sunday. A Ram pickup truck was reportedly driving south on Redwood Road at a high rate of speed when it went off the roadway near the intersection with 4700 South. The truck struck an Xfinity pole before continuing forward and colliding with an SUV stopped at the light. Keller. The debris crashed into a traffic signal at the intersection before striking another car in the turn lane. Meanwhile, the SUV rolled onto its roof, and the Ram pickup truck crashed into another car before coming to a rest. Sgt. Keller said the driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries and three others were hospitalized with minor injuries. A fifth individual was recovered from the Ram truck and was hospitalized with a leg injury. Keller said the driver and another passenger in the Ram fled the scene before officers could arrive. An investigation into the crash is ongoing. _____
