Fatal wrong-way crash shuts down US-1 near Jonathan Dickinson State Park
One person is dead following a crash involving a wrong-way driver that shut down a major roadway in Martin County Sunday, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.The crash happened on US-1 in front of Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Hobe Sound.Earlier, Martin County Fire Rescue dispatch traffic indicated crews were responding to what was initially reported as a vehicle fire near Southeast Federal Highway and Southeast Jonathan Dickinson Way. When a WPBF news crew arrived in the area, they observed a large law enforcement presence with roadways completely blocked off.Authorities have since confirmed the incident involves a fatal crash caused by a wrong-way driver.Multiple agencies are currently on scene, and US-1 is temporarily closed in the area.
