Fatal wrong-way crash on I-80 leaves 3 dead

Three individuals tragically lost their lives in a collision on the westbound side of Interstate 80 near Fairfield early Sunday morning. The collision took place around 2:01 a.m. involving a white Dodge Charger and a black Land Rover Discovery near the Cordelia Weigh Station. The California Highway Patrol revealed that one of the vehicles was going in the wrong direction, but it is currently unclear which one. CHP indicated that witnesses described the vehicle heading the wrong way as a "light-colored sedan." The Dodge Charger occupants, two men, and the Land Rover driver, a woman, all succumbed to their injuries from the initial crash. Another crash involving a black Tesla and a red Toyota Tacoma occurred shortly afterward in the same area. The Tesla driver emerged unharmed, while the Toyota driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. CHP stated that it is uncertain if drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor in the initial wrong-way accident, but they have ruled out impairment in the subsequent crash. Traffic on I-80 westbound was temporarily redirected to Suisun Valley Road due to the crash blocking all lanes. Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the crash victims.
