Fatal workplace accident in Spartanburg County
A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday evening in Spartanburg County, S.C., resulting in the death of a man who was operating a forklift at Spartanburg Steel Products. The 48-year-old man, identified as Russell Edward Layton Jr. of Boiling Springs, sustained life-threatening injuries and was brought to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 5:07 p.m. The details surrounding the incident are currently unclear, and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday. The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office is investigating the case with support from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
