Fatal truck-motorcycle crash at North Avenue and 5th Street
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — A motorcycle driver died after colliding with a pickup truck at the intersection of North Avenue and North 5th Street. The Grand Junction Police and Fire departments were on scene preforming CPR until it was determined the victim could not be resuscitated. According to a media release from the GJPD, the crash happened Friday at approximately 9:50 a.m. Preliminary investigation indicated the motorcycle was traveling westbound on North Avenue when it collided with the truck turning north onto N 5th Street. WesternSlopeNow talked with Raymond Jones who witnessed the crash from a nearby bench. "I realized there was a bicycle frame with an engine and a man mounted, stranded (or) underneath this mangled bicycle frame that somehow something amongst it, exploded after the collision with the truck passing by it." The GJPD is still in the early stages of its investigation but said speed is being considered as a potential factor in the crash.
