Fatal single-vehicle accident near Mt. Carroll, Illinois.
A fatal car accident occurred on Monday afternoon on U. S. Highway 52 between Mt. Carroll and Lanark, Illinois. The Carroll County Sheriff's Office reported that a driver lost their life in a single-car crash around 1:20 p.m. The vehicle veered off the road and ended up in a stream on the north side of the highway after hitting trees. The driver, who was the only occupant of the car, was declared deceased at the site of the crash. The identity of the driver was not disclosed initially to ensure that family and friends were notified first. The Carroll County Sheriff's Office received support from various local departments and organizations during the incident.
