Fatal rollover crash on 101 Freeway shuts lanes in Sherman Oaks
A fatal crash involving a pickup truck blocked multiple lanes of the 101 Freeway in Sherman Oaks early Wednesday, snarling traffic during the morning commute. The California Highway Patrol received reports of an overturned vehicle on the northbound side of the freeway near the 405 Freeway just after 3 a.m. A SigAlert was issued a short time later, leaving only one lane open on the northbound 101 and shutting down the northbound transition to the southbound 405. Officials later confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene. No information about the victim’s identity has been released. Sky5 was overhead at 5:50 a.m., where crews were still working to clear the scene. The backup stretched to Woodman Avenue. There was no immediate word on what caused the crash.
