Fatal motorcycle crash claims life of Prior Lake man in Savage, according to state patrol

A fatal motorcycle crash occurred on Thursday afternoon south of the Twin Cities, resulting in the death of a 54-year-old man. The incident took place around 2 p.m. at the junction of Highway 13 and McColl Drive in Savage, when the motorcyclist, who was from Prior Lake, collided with a sedan driven by a 19-year-old Shakopee woman. Sadly, the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The Minnesota State Patrol reported that alcohol is not suspected to have contributed to the accident and investigations are ongoing. This marks the 173rd traffic fatality in the state, with approximately 10 involving motorcyclists. Additionally, a new state law allowing certain motorcycle practices like lane splitting and lane filtering came into effect on July 1.
