Fatal incident at Marshall County mine leaves 1 worker deceased
Marshall County, W.Va. (WTRF) — A worker has died following an incident at a coal mine in Marshall County. According to Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director Tom Hart, the call came in at 10:31 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2026. The Marshall County 911 Center received a report from the Ohio County Mine Golden Ridge Portal in Dallas requesting emergency medical services for a worker. Officials say the worker had been crushed and suffered injuries to the head and neck. Dallas EMS and Marshall County EMS responded to the scene. Air medical services were also requested. Additional support came from Ohio County EMS, Stone Church Volunteer Fire Department, and West Finley, Pennsylvania Volunteer Fire Department through mutual aid. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department also responded. The Marshall County Medical Examiner was requested to the scene by EMS crews. No further details have been released.
