Fatal incident as car plunges into Tennessee River
The Knoxville Police Department reported that a tragic incident occurred involving a man who drove his car into the Tennessee River near a boat ramp in Governor Ned McWherter Park. A witness had seen the car in the parking lot an hour before the incident. After a rescue operation by the Knoxville Fire Department around 1:30 p.m., the driver was taken to the University of Tennessee hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
