Fatal incident as car plunges into Tennessee River
The Knoxville Police Department reported that a tragic incident occurred involving a man who drove his car into the Tennessee River near a boat ramp in Governor Ned McWherter Park. A witness had seen the car in the parking lot an hour before the incident. After a rescue operation by the Knoxville Fire Department around 1:30 p.m., the driver was taken to the University of Tennessee hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities stated that the circumstances are still under investigation, with no foul play suspected at this time.
