Fatal head-on crash in Licking County
Two individuals tragically lost their lives in a head-on collision that took place on Sunday evening in Licking County, near the intersection of State Route 13 and Hupp Road. The crash involved a 2021 Toyota Highlander and a 2002 Ford Mustang on SR-13. The drivers involved were identified as Rory Hiltner of Newark, driving the Toyota northbound, and Rocky Smith of Thornville, driving the Ford southbound. The collision occurred when Smith crossed over the center line, striking Hiltner's vehicle. Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene. Various law enforcement agencies, including the Licking County Sheriff’s Office, the Heath Fire Department, Licking Township Fire Department, and the Licking County Coroner’s office, have launched an investigation into the incident.
