Fatal crash under investigation on Tail of the Dragon

BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on the Tail of the Dragon early Thursday. A THP spokesperson confirmed to 6 News that a fatal crash occurred around 1 a.m. A preliminary report on the incident has not yet been released. The Tail of the Dragon is a stretch of U.S. 129 that goes through the Great Smoky Mountains and Cherokee National Forest from Blount County, Tennessee, to Graham County, North Carolina. With its 318 curves over 11 miles, it is a popular destination for motorcyclists and sports car enthusiasts.
