Fatal crash on I-29; Missing man remains found; Windy

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- Here's a look at today's top stories for KELOLAND On the Go. A fatal crash impacted travel on Interstate 29 just south of Sioux Falls Tuesday afternoon, the South Dakota Department of Public Safety said. DPS said a 47-year-old man died in the crash, but a name is not being released pending family notification. Human remains found in Pennington County have been identified as Gary Harrison III, the county sheriff’s office said on a social media post. Harrison III was reported missing on Aug. 5, 2025, and was last seen walking away from a job site in the Wasta area. The remains were found in an area near Wasta. The discussion of the next steps for Smithfield’s relocation to Foundation Park continued Tuesday night. The Sioux Falls City Council held its first reading of the proposed $90 million TIF. It was another heavily attended public meeting at Carnegie Town Hall. Most of the public input was in favor of the TIF. We are preparing for a strong wind event tomorrow across KELOLAND. Peak winds over 70 mph are expected in many areas northwest of Sioux Falls, but even Sioux Falls will be monitored for wind increases by Thursday night.
