Fatal crash on Corkscrew Rd and Whidden Loop Rd - Gulf Coast News and Weather
A fatal collision occurred on County Road 850 (Corkscrew Road) at Whidden Loop Road in Collier County. The incident involved a Ford sedan and a dump truck. The Ford sedan, driven by an 18-year-old individual from Immokalee, attempted to pass vehicles by crossing the center line. The dump truck driver tried to avoid a collision by veering off the road but was unsuccessful, resulting in a head-on crash. Unfortunately, a 25-year-old passenger in the sedan was pronounced dead after being transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center. The sedan driver sustained serious injuries while the truck driver had minor injuries. The road is now open after being closed since 6:50 a.m. Tow trucks and the Florida Highway Patrol were on the scene.
