Fatal Crash in Sebastian County Involving Man's Death and Injuries to Greenland Students and Coach
A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday night in Witcherville, Arkansas, resulting in the death of a 23-year-old man and injuries to three others. The Arkansas State Police reported that a head-on collision took place on U.S. Highway 71, involving vehicles driven by Dylon Wagoner and a 37-year-old man with two 16-year-old passengers. The collision led to Wagoner's vehicle rolling over and him being fatally ejected from it. The other vehicle came to a stop in a nearby ditch. The Greenland School District mentioned in a social media post that a "personal vehicle incident" involving students and a staff member occurred after a basketball game in Mansfield. Witcherville is approximately six miles from Mansfield. Greenland Mayor Jim Renfrow confirmed that the staff member involved was boys' assistant basketball coach Jeremy Schopper, who was driving home with his daughter and a player. Schopper sustained severe internal injuries and was airlifted to a Fayetteville hospital and later transferred to a hospital in Little Rock. The children in the vehicle were taken to a hospital in Fort Smith and have since been discharged. Counseling services will be available for those in need, according to the Greenland School District. It was noted that details regarding the crash were preliminary, and the situation is still unfolding. Keep following KNWA/FOX24 for updates on this story.
