Fatal crash in Plymouth
PLYMOUTH — A woman is dead after a four-vehicle crash in Plymouth on Monday afternoon. Here's what happened, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol • Roadwork was occurring on the east side of Ohio 61 in the village • Due to a construction flagger, two vehicles were stopped in the northbound lane • A third vehicle, operated by 81-year-old Ruth Pridemore of Willard was slowing down in the northbound lane • A fourth vehicle, operated by a 50-year-old Crestline man, failed to maintain an assured clear distance and rear-ended Pridemore's car. • Pridemore's car then slammed into the vehicle in front of it, which in turn struck the first vehicle in the line. • Pridemore suffered fatal injuries in the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene. • The other three drivers sustained minor injuries and were not transported from the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
