Fatal crash in Kapolei claims life of 28-year-old man

KAPOLEI, Hawaiʻi (KHON2) -- A driver speeding through the Kapolei area died in a crash Monday evening. On Monday, May 25, around 11:55 p.m., a 28-year-old man was speeding eastbound on Farrington Highway when he rear-ended another driver, a 60-year-old man, according to the Honolulu Police Department. The 28-year-old man lost control and collided with the center concrete barrier, causing it to travel airborne over the barrier into the westbound lanes of Farrington Highway, where it rolled over multiple times, authorities reported. As a result of the collision, the man was thrown onto the roadway and declared dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. The 60-year-old man remained at the scene and was not injured. Officials said that speed appears to be a contributing factor; it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved. The investigation remains ongoing. This is the 16th traffic fatality on Oʻahu this year compared to 30 at the same time in 2025.
