Fatal crash in Howard County after fleeing police during traffic stop

A man passed away in a collision on Sunday morning after trying to escape from a traffic stop on Route 29 in Howard County, according to authorities. The driver collided with a utility pole on Rogers Avenue in Ellicott City after fleeing from a Howard County Police Department officer in an unmarked vehicle who tried to stop him. Despite deactivating emergency lights, the officer did not chase the driver. Soon after, the driver died in the crash, as mentioned by the police. The blockage of Rogers Avenue near Faber Way lasted for approximately six hours.
