Fatal crash in Chula Vista: Two dead, three injured

Two individuals lost their lives and three others were taken to the hospital following a collision between two vehicles in central Chula Vista on Monday evening. The incident occurred at around 7:45 p.m. at the junction of Telegraph Canyon Road and Apache Drive, just west of La Media Road. According to authorities, the crash involved a car traveling west on Telegraph Canyon Road which collided with an SUV heading east on the same road, attempting to make a left turn onto Apache Drive. The SUV flipped over, trapping its four occupants inside. Emergency crews had to extricate all four individuals from the vehicle, and unfortunately, the driver, a 75-year-old man, passed away shortly after. One of the SUV's three passengers, a 76-year-old man, also succumbed to injuries after being transported to a hospital. The other two passengers are currently in stable condition. The car's driver, a 41-year-old man from National City, was hospitalized with minor injuries. Police are investigating the cause of the accident and have ruled out alcohol or drug influence.
