Fatal collision involving truck and semi-truck near Jackson on I-94 overpass.

Two individuals lost their lives in a collision involving a large box truck and a gravel hauler semi truck on westbound I-94 under the Airport Road overpass in Lansing, Michigan. The incident was initially reported at 9:15 a.m. by the Michigan Department of Transportation. Police from the Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety were dispatched to the scene at 9:06 a.m. The collision occurred when the box truck struck the rear of the semi truck carrying two gravel-loaded trailers, causing significant damage to both vehicles and puncturing a fuel tank on the box truck. As a result, fuel spilled onto the roadway. The driver and passenger in the box truck, identified as a 30-year-old man from Sterling Heights and a 22-year-old man from Warren, were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities are being withheld until their families are notified. Following the crash response, the closure of I-94 at Airport Rd lasted nearly eight hours, with the interstate reopening around 4:30 p.m.
