Fatal collision in Crest leaves one driver dead, closes La Cresta Road
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A fatal crash on La Cresta Road in the Crest area on Wednesday afternoon left the driver of a sedan dead, and closed westbound traffic in the area, according to San Miguel Fire & Rescue. The westbound lanes of La Cresta Road at Mountain View Road are closed for an unknown duration due to a crash, according to CHP El Cajon. SMFR says it received the call around 2:55 p.m. and witnesses on the scene reported seeing a white truck collide with a red sedan. The driver of the truck was reportedly transported to the hospital, while the driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. El Cajon CHP is investigating the circumstances of the crash and advises checking for updates on when the road closure will be lifted. Several other traffic collisions occurred throughout the county today, including a semi-truck crash on I-15 that caused traffic jams near Mission Valley and another semi-truck incident on I-5 in Oceanside that blocked lanes.
