Fatal collision between car and semi-truck in Milan

A fatal collision occurred on Wednesday afternoon on 78th Avenue in the 4300 block, as reported by a recent update from the Rock Island County Sheriff's Office on their Facebook page. The incident occurred just past 4:15 p.m. involving a semi-truck and a passenger car. Sadly, the driver of the car, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the semi-truck driver emerged unharmed. The identities of those involved have not been disclosed to allow time for their families to be informed. The collision resulted in damage to a water main, promptly addressed by the Moline Public Works team. Multiple local departments, including the Coal Valley Fire Department, Coyne Center Fire Department, Blackhawk Fire Protection District, Moline Fire Department, East Moline Fire Department, Rock Island Arsenal Fire Department, Illinois State Police, and the Rock Island County Coroner's Office, provided assistance. The sheriff's office is currently investigating the matter, with no further updates expected to be provided today.
