Fatal accident on Katy Freeway: 66-year-old man killed in head-on collision
Two individuals lost their lives in a tragic crash that occurred on Tuesday morning on I-10 Katy Freeway. The incident involved a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction and colliding with another vehicle. Sergeant Rebecca Dallas reported that authorities were alerted to the situation around midnight when a BMW sedan was seen going the wrong way on the eastbound lanes of Katy Freeway near the 6600 block, just before the Washington Ave and Westcott Street exit. The BMW collided with a Cybertruck heading eastbound towards downtown, and subsequently struck an 18-wheeler traveling in the same direction. Following the collision, the BMW caught fire, prompting the Houston Fire Department to respond. Unfortunately, one man was pronounced dead at the scene. The 66-year-old driver of the Cybertruck was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the 18-wheeler remained unharmed. The reasons behind the BMW driver's wrong-way driving and any potential involvement of intoxication are currently under investigation.
