Fatal Accident Involving NYPD Officer on BQE
A tragic motorcycle accident took the life of an off-duty NYPD officer on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway Wednesday morning. Reports indicate that the 30-year-old officer, who was riding a Yamaha R1, was hit by a box truck while heading westbound on the BQE near the Atlantic Avenue exit at approximately 8:30 a.m. The motorcycle collided with a wall and caught fire. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the officer did not survive. The driver of the box truck fled the scene, and authorities have not made any arrests. The officer's identity has not been disclosed at this time.
