
Fatal accident involving DUII driver claims life of cyclist in Salem
A cyclist tragically passed away in Salem on Thursday following a collision with a driver who was reportedly under the influence, as reported by law enforcement in Marion County. The incident took place on Delaney Road SE around 7:20 p.m., where 46-year-old Jeremy Wanak was found critically injured. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Wanak succumbed to his injuries. The law enforcement authorities expressed their condolences to Wanak's family and friends during this challenging time. The 28-year-old driver involved was taken into custody at the scene and is facing charges including second-degree manslaughter, reckless driving, reckless endangering, and driving under the influence of intoxicants. Deputies closed the road for six hours as they investigated the incident.
