Fatal accident closes I-69 in Noblesville; Northbound lane is reopened

Early on Wednesday morning near Noblesville, a serious crash involving a tanker that ignited a fire resulted in the closure of both lanes of Interstate 69. The incident, which also involved a passenger vehicle, took place at mile marker 212 on I-69. According to Sergeant John Perrine, a truck carrying welding tanks caught fire and exploded after a SUV rear-ended a utility truck while they were both heading southbound. Unfortunately, the individual in the SUV lost their life in the collision. By 7:20 a.m., the northbound side of I-69 had reopened, confirmed by the Fishers Police Department. The emergency response is ongoing, with the Indiana State Police leading the investigation. Motorists are encouraged to find alternative routes to avoid the area as the situation continues to evolve.
