Fatal accident at intersection in Norfolk

In Norfolk, Virginia, a man passed away after a solo vehicle accident at the intersection of Wilson Rd. and E Indian River Rd. on Saturday evening, as reported by the Norfolk Police Department. Responding to a call at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Nov. 22, emergency personnel were dispatched to the 1400 block of E Indian River Road where a car had collided with a building. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle had veered off the road, struck an apartment building in the 100 block of Wilson Road, and flipped over. The driver, identified as Hammad A. Salaam, a 71-year-old resident of Norfolk, was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital. An initial investigation indicated that the man experienced a medical emergency before the accident. There were no additional injuries reported in this incident, and the Norfolk Police Department's Traffic Fatality Team is leading the investigation.
